Preview Of Quickspin’s New Sticky Bandits Video Slot

Sticky Bandits by Quickspin LogoAlthough Western slots are a casino classic, 2017 has been a big year for this particular theme. Not only did NetEnt launch their particularly successful Wild Wild West: The Great Train Heist back in February, but this month the team over at Quickspin are giving us another game filled with cowboys, dynamite sticks and sacks of gold.

Sticky Bandits will launch on August 15th and from the sneak peak we’ve already seen, it looks to be a winner. Not only does it showcase the best of this software developer’s design and illustration ability, but it also looks to be packed full of exciting, and lucrative, bonus features. However, the spaghetti western theme has been done before, so will Sticky Bandits be able to stand out from the crowd? Read on to see what we made of this brand new game.

What Can We Expect?

Sticky Bandits is a 5 reel, 30 payline slot, that’ll be playable from as little as 15p all the way up to £90. It will be released across all devices, at all good Quickspin casinos, on the 15th of August, and it benefits from two great bonus features.

One of the main reasons we’re excited about this slot is because we know how well Quickspin games perform on mobile. The software developers have always been committed to making sure their slots run flawlessly no matter which way you play, and whilst we won’t be able to know how Sticky Bandits functions until it’s release, this commitment means we’ve already got a good feeling about the game.

Visually, Sticky Bandits looks stunning. The reels are set against a colourful canyon scene and the two rifles which border the slot give you a taste for the kind of trouble these bandits have been causing, even before the game has begun. Symbols on the reels include the three bandits themselves, dynamite sticks, sacks of gold and western styled playing card values. The highest paying symbols is the female bandit, and she will reward you with 200x your wager for a five of a kind combination.

Western themed slots have been around since time begun, or so it feels that way, yet it doesn’t stop software developers from always wanting to produce more. We can see the appeal; the wild wild west was perhaps one of the most exciting, and dangerous, periods in American history. Plus, there are many tropes in Western films, such as the soundtracks, which slots designers can copy to make their games feel familiar to players.

Still, Quickspin are known for their unique themes and this slot just seems to lack some of that imagination. If the team want to make this slot stand out in an already crowded genre, it must be executed perfectly, which fortunately, we think it might be. Moreover, the game boasts a medium to high volatility, which makes it particularly lucrative, and is sure to draw in players.

Mobile Slot Features

Sticky Bandits by QuickspinSticky Bandits features one special symbol, which acts as both a wild and a scatter, and triggers the game’s bonus features. The symbol comes two reels wide, and can take over two whole reels too. It can display one of two bandit characters, and substitutes for all other symbols. However, unlike most slots, the special symbol doesn’t carry it’s own value or payout.

Whilst the special symbol is great at creating winning combinations, as it doesn’t carry it’s own payout it doesn’t really work so well as a wild. What does make it exciting, however, is the fact it can activate the extra spins round.

There is a second bonus symbol, the train, which only works in conjunction with the huge special symbols. If the train lands on reel one, whilst a special symbol appears on reel two or four, you’ll be granted 7 extra spins. To make it even more exciting, the wild will remain in place for the entirety of the extra spins round. Moreover, any more wilds that land on the reels during the feature will also be sticky, and therefore remain in place too.

Our Verdict

In all honesty, we can’t decide if Sticky Bandits will be a great game or it will miss the mark ever so slightly. We love the extra spins bonus feature with those sticky wilds, but the base game seems a little lacklustre. If it wasn’t for the great theme and great graphics, we don’t know how well this slot would fare.

However, the medium to high variance of the game makes it exciting and hopefully means that those bonus features will trigger quite often. We know that Quickspin are capable of producing some great slots and so hopefully our first impressions will be proved wrong when the game launches later this month.
